David Beer originates from Whitstable in Kent, and moved West Cornwall in 1986 where he spent much of the next 12 years painting and running the Penhaven Gallery, in St Ives. Depending on the subject, David works in several media including oil, acrylic and pastel, and his land and seascapes are mainly rendered in oil on board using a palette knife to convey the broad shapes and forms of the landscape. His skill in picking out the changing light at sunset or sunrise is striking, and his work is both bold and original.
