Andrew Syms

Andrew is a self taught Cornish abstract painter whose work resonates with energy and colour and utilises a broad range of media including acrylic, charcoal, pencil and collage. Within each piece is a microcosm of dynamic, pulsating forms and shapes, each interacting with the next in bold juxtaposed panes that lead the eye around the composition. Andrew says of his work ‘Each piece is a spontaneous creation never planned ... unfolding into the unknown.’ He cites the great St Ives Modernists Patrick Heron, Peter Lanyon and Terry Frost as influences on his practise.
